What Others Have to Say:

Ben on the range.

Rusty Tolley made me a star.  I was on a committee to find a keynote speaker for a year-end dinner meeting of the Atlanta Lawyers Club, the preeminent social club for lawyers in Atlanta, with a membership at the time of more than 1500.  I thought about Rusty, with whom I had worked at one of Atlanta’s top law firms. Rusty came to town and delivered a stirring address. It was uplifting, thoughtful, and by turns joyful and elegiac. In fact, it was moving, and that’s saying something for a large crowd of skeptical lawyers.  I wouldn’t hesitate a moment to call Rusty when I need an inspiring speaker.

Rusty performing in NM Bootheel.

Rusty is a gifted speaker by any measure. It’s not easy to address a group of Fighter pilots and their wives especially at a change of command ceremony. Rusty knew his audience and delivered a thoroughly captivating and insightful presentation. He has that rare ability to weave humor and wisdom into storytelling. Thoughtful, appropriate and highly entertaining, an evening with Rusty is more than a speech, it’s an experience.

Rusty Tolley is one of the most interesting and talented men I’ve ever known. He went from being a U.S. Army JAG officer to a respected partner in one of the country’s major law firms. After practicing law for 16 years, he left a successful and lucrative law practice in Atlanta to become a wrangler on a cattle ranch in southern Arizona. After learning how to be a sure-enough cowboy, he applied for and completed the extremely rigorous training to become a New Mexico State Police Officer, where he served for more than ten years with distinction. He then became a criminal investigator in the 6th D.A.’s office where he applied both his legal and law enforcement experience to good effect.

If ever a man had a well-lived life, endless curiosity and an inquiring mind, an unquenchable thirst for adventure, an unfailing sense of humor, and a treasure trove of stories to tell, that man is Rusty Tolley. He’s a trial lawyer and a poet, a soldier and a story-teller, a cowboy and a cop. Tell me where he’s speaking next, because I want to be there.

Rusty Tolley speaks from the rich experience he has had in a life of various successful careers.  He has an original tale about grasshoppers that took place while he was a state patrolman in Hidalgo County that will have a person roaring with laughter.  The cowboy poetry that he delivers is apt and humorous as well.  His “serious” presentations come from his heart that espouses a very strong faith.

If you want a speaker who has a real feel for his audience, can mix humor with serious topics and is just overall entertaining on a wide variety of subject matter, Rusty Tolley is the speaker for you.

Rusty Tolley did appear, having been delayed by “police work”…. He is a humorist and tale teller, along with being a reciter of poetry.  I’ve seen a number of performers and I must say Rusty’s timing is impeccable. He had the audience hanging on every word and waiting for the punch line, which he delivered smoothly and with great panache (good cowboy word)…. I know the audience enjoyed his presentations!
